Needs Statement/Target Audience
Given the prevalence of HPV and its relationship with the development of cervical cancer, HPV vaccines promise to offer an exciting contribution to health care and cervical cancer prevention. This development has been a major public health initiative reflected in the tremendous amount of attention this health advancement has received. Despite extensive research in the development of these vaccines, there remain many unanswered questions in academic and public arenas regarding their administration and role in preventive medicine. OB/GYNs and other health care providers who will be administering the vaccine play a significant role in the prevention and screening of patients for cervical cancer and therefore, this activity has been planned in accordance with the need to provide an educational activity focusing on the practical application of this information.
